Гост S.Gerrard
Gerrard: I've spoken to Klopp about Liverpool FC return A year has passed since Steven Gerrard made the gut-wrenching decision to call time on his illustrious Liverpool career. Happy and relaxed having enjoyed a first Christmas off with his family in two decades, the Kop icon has no regrets. Instead he’s looking to the future with relish. 2016 promises to be another momentous year for the midfielder. After a trip to Sydney with Liverpool Legends next week, he will return to California to start pre-season with Los Angeles Galaxy. Retirement is likely to follow when his contract expires at the end of the 2016 Major League Soccer campaign. He will continue as a pundit for BT Sport and it could also be the year when he makes the leap into coaching. Currently working towards his UEFA A Licence, Gerrard spoke with Jurgen Klopp about a possible backroom role at Liverpool during his recent spell back training at Melwood. Nothing is set in stone but the opportunity is there for the Reds to tap into his wealth of knowledge and experience and bring him back into the fold once his commitments are over in America. “I have had a chat with Klopp,” Gerrard said. “I haven’t had an offer as such, but the club have let me know they are keen for me to come back. “There hasn’t been a conversation where they have said: ‘we want you to do this, we want you to do that’. But they have welcomed me back in. “I am always going to be biased towards Liverpool and the FA. Basically, when I am back home I am going to carry on with my punditry work and if nothing happens between now and then I am going to try and move around clubs and gain more experience for myself, going to watch managers and try and learn more for myself. “I am basically available from November/December. What’s interesting for me is I know what is going to happen until November but beyond that I don’t know. “When I come back I have got my BT work but I am available for whatever is out there. Everyone in the football world will know I am available and hopefully I will be 75% into my coaching badges.” Could I still do a job in the Premier League? Yeah The initial leaving of Liverpool wasn’t easy for the longest serving captain in the club’s history. After he rejected the offer of a one-year contract extension having been told by Brendan Rodgers he would effectively become a squad player, the Reds stood accused of not doing enough to retain his services. Walking away hurt all the more after his 710th and final appearance in May ended in a shambolic 6-1 defeat at Stoke City. “I think announcing I was going was the hardest thing in 2015 but the lowest moment was Stoke,” said Gerrard, speaking over breakfast at The Vincent, the restaurant he co-owns on Liverpool’s Exchange Flags. “Before that game I so wanted it to be a win. To win my last game for Liverpool and for it to go the way it did was tough to take.” Asked if he believes he could still do a job in the Premier League, the answer is an emphatic “yeah”. However, Gerrard has embraced the challenge he took on when he signed for LA Galaxy. It’s a world away from the pressure cooker of life at Anfield. “There’s not a regret because I enjoyed the experience of the MLS and I’m quite looking forward to going and doing it for another year,” Gerrard said. “I could have certainly become a squad player or signed the year extension that I was offered. “But I think to sign it there would have had to be a ‘short, middle and long-term’ plan for me at Liverpool rather than just fade into being a squad player. “I don’t really enjoy being sub and missing big games. I felt I would have been signing a year extension just because it was there on offer really. “As I said in my book if there was a plan of being a squad player then moving into a shadowing role or a transition to the staff that would have been a bigger carrot dangled for me. “There is no regret, anger or bitterness. I just want to look forward and what’s next for me. “When you come out of playing for Liverpool every week and you’re the captain and playing for England, of course a big weight lifted off my shoulders. “It is about enjoyment now and enjoying the remainder of my playing contract. “You can’t describe that pressure you’re under when you’re playing for Liverpool every week, you’re the local lad and you’re the captain. There was huge responsibility on my shoulders and I felt that release as soon as I came out of it.” I'm in better shape for my second MLS season - it's probably my last as a player Gerrard is determined to ensure his second season with Galaxy is more successful than his first. After joining midway through the 2015 campaign, the 35-year-old wasn’t able to help them retain their MLS crown. Instead they crashed out in the first round of the play-offs to Seattle Sounders. Gerrard scored twice and made three assists in 14 league outings before heading home to Merseyside. “I’m looking forward to going back because of the experience I’ve had before,” he said. “I’ll be less shocked and surprised because there were quite a few hurdles, shocks and surprises in the first three or four months, just because it’s a lot different to what I’m used to. “Even if you go on the road in the Premier League and Europe, you know what you’re in for. You’ve got a good idea of the atmosphere, the temperature, the pitch. “Over there everything is a shock and surprise. With the experience before I think I’m in better shape going for the second season. “I think with every Premier League player who goes to the MLS they assume they’re going to smash it and it’s going to be easy, a walk in the park. “But it’s not, especially when you go somewhere when you’re 35 and the challenges are heat, humidity and plastic pitches. The hurdles that would be a big challenge when you’re 25 are a bigger challenge at 35.” A remarkable playing career which began against Blackburn Rovers in November 1998 is reaching a conclusion. Hence Gerrard’s commitment to getting his coaching badges as a new chapter in his life beckons. “I’m not 100% sure but I think it will probably be my last year as a player,” he added, “It’s a bit scary because I love playing. If I didn’t still love it I would probably call it a day now. “I enjoyed the last two weeks training with Liverpool, I loved it. I actually felt in those two weeks that I was new and young. That tells me to carry on. “I’ve got dreams and aspirations of one day going into coaching and management but at the moment I’m nowhere near ready for management. “It’s completely different from being a player. I think when you start your coaching badges, that’s the thing you realise pretty sharp. “When you’re playing you’re in control of what you’re doing. When you’re a manager you’re in control of 25 men with different egos. “The pressure of being at a big club and stuff. What I have to do now is carry on getting my coaching badges and stuff, try to get as much experience as possible as I can as I go along. “Then try to add that to the experience I’ve already got as a player. "I have masses of experience as a player because I’ve worked with loads of good managers.” Отговор Link to comment Сподели другаде
