Шкртел и изключителен, но му липсва това което има Агер а имено организирането на игра. Агер не се страхува да тръгва напред да изнася топката и да се опитва да прави извеждащи подавания.също така на Шкртел му липсва и инстинкт за самосъхранение и това го прави толкова железен.

Защитникът на Ливърпул Мартин Шкрътел е избран за най-добър футболист на Словакия за 2008 година в анкета, чиито резултати бяха публикувани в Братислава.

 

Мартин Шкрътел, 24-годишен, изпревари в анкетата полузащитника на Наполи Марек Хамшик и нападателя на Бохум Станислав Шестак.

Martin Skrtel insists Liverpool fans have yet to see the best of him - and admits he studies the likes of Jamie Carragher in a bid to improve. Skrtel is already established among the Barclays Premier League's top defenders despite being just 24 - three years younger than the first-choice centre-backs at Manchester United and Chelsea.

 

However, the Slovakia international believes he is some way off his peak.

 

"I hope there is a lot of improvement still to come. I am 24 and Daniel Agger is also. This is still very young for a centre-back," Skrtel told Liverpoolfc.tv.

 

"Every day in training you can learn from players like Carra. Every day I watch Daniel, Carra and last season Sami - this helps me in my job.

 

"That's very important and very good for us. Hopefully when we play in the future the things we learn every day will come through in our games."

 

Skrtel believes the stiff competition for places at the heart of Rafa Benitez's defence provides added incentive for him and his colleagues to excel.

 

He said: "I have been competing not only with Daniel but also Jamie and last year Sami. Always when I get a chance I try to play very well and help my team win. But all four of us do that. You just have to play for the team.

 

"Everyone wants to play but when you don't you just have to wait for your chance. You have to show you're a good player."

SKRTEL AND EL ZHAR INJURY LATEST

Liverpool will find out at the end of the week how long they will be without Martin Skrtel and Nabil El Zhar after both players limped out of last night's friendly with Thailand.

Skrtel has a hamstring injury while El Zhar has damaged medial ligaments in his knee.

 

Both players will return to the UK separately from the rest of the squad to undergo scans on their respective injuries.

Reds defender sidelined for 3 weeks

 

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel will be out of action for three weeks after suffering a hamstring strain.

 

The Slovakian underwent scans in Liverpool today after he came on as a half-time substitute on Wednesday in Thailand. However, he only lasted ten minutes on the pitch after getting a knock.

 

Meanwhile, Reds winger Nabil El Zhar sustained a medial ligament sprain to his right knee and will miss the start of the season after being ruled out for four weeks.

 

Xabi Alonso and Yossi Benayoun both recovered from their ankle injuries and will be available for selection against Singapore however, Glen Johnson is still suffering from an achilles injury.

Martin Skrtel has given Rafael Benitez a major boost ahead of the opening weekend of the season by making a successful comeback from injury earlier today.

Skrtel came through a run-out in a behind closed doors friendly against Oldham at the Academy, in which Lucas and Daniel Ayala were on the scoresheet in a 2-0 win.

 

The Slovakian defender has been out of action since picking up a hamstring injury against Thailand last month, and his return to action will come as a massive boost to the Reds ahead of Sunday's opening fixture at Tottenham.

Словашкият защитник на Ливърпул Мартин Шкъртел ще бъде извън терените около две седмици, което все пак е добра новина, тъй като неговата челюст е само пукната, но не е счупена, както първоначално предполагаха в лекарския щаб на мърсисайдци.

 

Бранителят получи травмата по време на загубата с 1:2 от Тотнъм в неделя, след като се сблъска със своя съотборник Джейми Карагър. Агентът на играча Карол Ксонто заяви:
