I don’t know if it was ever shown nationwide or just in the regions where there would be greatest interest. It covers his footballing career, revealing that at 15 he had a trial for Liverpool FC but was turned away, (years later Bill Shankly found out and was furious that somehow he had slipped through) as he was from his boyhood club Glasgow Rangers. It tells how he joined Celtic the season after they won the European Cup how he then joined Liverpool in 1977 for a then record transfer fee between British clubs. There are contributions from fellow Scot Dennis Law, Ray Clemence – where he talks about that goal! – Franz Beckenbauer and George Best. It’s part fly on the wall as the crew has access to the dressing room before and after some matches. This was during the 1985-86 season when Joe Fagan stepped down after Hysel and Dalglish at 34 was appointed player manager.
