We have signed talented 15-year-old Trent Kone-Doherty from Derry City.

The Irish youngster will complete his move next month and join the Reds Kirkby academy, where he will feature for Liverpool’s age group sides.

Derry under 19s coach Gerald Boyle"

“Liverpool in particular go for quality over quantity, they don’t go for big numbers at their academy, so it’s a credit to everybody who has worked with Trent down the years from his boys club coaches and to every coach that has had him at Derry City, they have all helped him on that journey to get to Liverpool.

“Obviously there’s a lot of natural ability and his family will also have put in a lot of work with him as well.
“Trent is one of the first of have come through now from Under-13 up, it just shows if you put the work into your academy then things like Trent going to a top club can happen and I think that is a big boost for the club.”

NEW: Liverpool could be about to make an exemption to an unwritten transfer rule by sending out Ben Doak and Bobby Clark on loan in January, despite the two players having only just made the step up to senior level at 17 years of age.

It’s rare for Liverpool to sanction loan exits for players so young - from all of the youth players to have been granted their first temporary moves away from Anfield under Jurgen Klopp, Harvey Elliott is the only one to have been under the age of 18.

However, after impressing in their limited senior opportunities, there is the possibility that Doak and Clark will be sent on loans to give them more experience and accelerate their development.

BBC Scotland claimed that Nottingham Forest were monitoring Doak ahead of a potential loan move last month, while Preston North End have repeatedly been credited with interest in Clark.
